The linear electrohydrodynamic cylindrical instability of annular Walters B′ viscoelastic dielectric fluid layer surrounded by a conducting gas in the presence of radial electric field is investigated. The obtained dispersion relation is found to be complicated and cannot be treated theoretically easily. Two limiting cases of interest are investigated, when the inertia is dominant, and when both the kinematic viscosity and viscoelasticity are high, and the corresponding new stability conditions are obtained for both cases. We solve the eigenvalue problem numerically using the continuation method which gives better results than the classical non-linear solvers such as Newton and Secant methods. It is found that the applied radial electric field has a dual role on the stability of the considered system, depending of the chosen wavenumbers range. Both the kinematic viscoelasticity and liquid depth are found to have stabilizing effects, while both the kinematic viscosity and surface tension have destabilizing effects on the considered system. The stability or instability breaks down for critical wavenumber values at which the growth rate vanishes. The behaviors of both the maximum growth rate and the corresponding dominant wavenumber are discussed in detail corresponding to the effect of all physical parameters. Finally a comparison between the results obtained here for Walters B′ viscoelastic fluids, and those obtained here too if the fluid is replaced by a Rivlin–Ericksen viscoelastic one is achieved. A complete set of fundamental optical functions of fullerite (C60) films in energy ranges of 2.5–5.0 and 4.0–9.0 eV is calculated using the known spectra of the imaginary and real parts of
the dielectric constant. An integrated spectrum of the dielectric constant is decomposed into elementary components. Three
basic parameters of each component (the maximum and halfwidth energies and oscillator strength) are determined. Based on the
known theoretical calculations of fullerite zones, a scheme of the nature of these components of the dielectric constant is
suggested.

Non-contact atomic force microscopy (AFM) was employed following emersion to examine Au nanoclusters deposited from aqueous mixtures of HF and 10−4 M KAu(CN)2 onto Si(111). As the HF concentration is increased, the growth rates both parallel and perpendicular to the substrate of the approximately oblate Au hemispheroids increase. AFM images were obtained for times at which previously reported in situ second harmonic generation signals from the interface reach a maximum. At the time when the second harmonic enhancement is maximized during deposition from 0.500 (5.00) M HF, the Au nanoclusters have an average diameter of 94 (109) nm and an average height of 3.6 (9.5) nm. These cluster diameters can be understood qualitatively by the shift of the plasmon resonance due to depolarization as the cluster size increases, causing the resonant second harmonic enhancement at 532 nm to pass through a maximum at cluster diameters in the range 90–110 nm. 相似文献

A new device for studying the dynamic adhesive strength is created. A procedure for determining the dynamic adhesive strength in fiber—polymer systems under impact loading (pull-out technique) is developed. The adhesive strength of the interface of polymer—steel wire joints formed by polymers of different chemical nature (epoxy resin, polysulfone, and polypropylene) is examined. It is shown that the dynamic adhesive strength grows as the loading rate increases for all the systems under investigation and that the relationship between the adhesive strength and the loading rate,

Degradation of the residual strength of a glass-fiber-reinforced polyester composite of a lay-up typical of the wind rotor
blade material is studied at low-cycle fatigue. A gradual reduction of the residual strength is observed as expected for GRP,
accompanied by an increasing scatter of strength. The residual strength model based on the strength-life equal rank assumption
yields an accurate approximation of experimental data. The strength reduction at a stress level corresponding to high-cycle
fatigue (N>10
6 cycles) appears to correlate well with the test results at higher stress levels, which indicates that the strength degradation
at the design stress level can be evaluated using low-cycle tests. Assuming that the parameters of the strength degradation
model do not depend on the applied stress level, the residual strength data obtained in low stress level tests of comparatively
short duration can be used to estimate the average fatigue life at the same stress thus reducing the total test time.

Anhydrites(II)- CaSO4 were prepared from two waste gypsums (PRECHEZA Perov, FOSFA Potorná). The samples of anhydrites(II) with sulphate activators were tested on spillage, beginning and the end of setting time, bending and pressure strength. Both sodium and potassium sulphates accelerated setting of anhydrite, more impressively that prepared from Potorná gypsum. The addition of Na2SO4 influenced the strength of this anhydrite very favourably. On the contrary K2SO4 influenced favourably the strength of Perov anhydrite. A mullite/mullite nanocomposite powder has been synthesized, composed of nanometer-size 3Al2O3·2SiO2 (3/2) mullite precipitates within a matrix of the high alumina 2Al2O3·SiO2 (2:1) mullite. Historically, the transition from the metastable high-alumina phase to the thermodynamically stable 3:2 phase of mullite has been thought to be a continuous process, involving a continuous solid solution between the two forms of mullite. In contradiction to this widely held view, our high resolution transmission electron microscopic characterization confirms that a first order phase transition between two distinct mullites occurs. The high degree of interface coherence between the precipitates and the matrix allows us to speculate that the mechanical properties of the matrix could be enhanced by a process similar to the precipitation hardening of metals. 相似文献
